why a strikingly puppy?

Deciding to bring a puppy into your home is a big decision. Choosing your breeder, can be an even bigger one to make!

With so many Standard Poodle breeders, it can be difficult to choose the breeder for you. We feel it is so important to offer a personalized experience, in order to make sure our families feel comfortable and confident in their journey to finding their perfect pup.

We use a mix of Puppy Culture and Badass Breeder Curriculums. Our focus is to raise confident and well-socialized pups who are comfortable and familiar with the sights and sounds of a home. We help to facilitate an easy transition for our pups as they go home with their forever families.

what’s our process?

BIRTH TO 3 WEEKS OLD

Our babies are raised inside our home from day one. Our babies are raised in large whelping pens from birth until 3.5 weeks old. At this age, the pups main goal is to sleep, eat, and grow!

Each pen is lined with thick bathmats in order to provide traction for healthy hip and joint development. A heating pad and space heater are used to ensure pups are kept warm.

our babies hit BIG MILESTONEs each week!

THREE to EIGHT WEEKS OLD

GROOMING

Standard Poodles have a hair that continuously grows throughout their lives. This means they must be groomed regularly (every 6-8 weeks).

Early exposure to nail clipping, clippers, baths and the high velocity dryer are essential to help prepare them for success on the grooming table for years to come!

LITTER PAN TRAINING

Our babies begin to work on potty training at 3 weeks old. We introduce them to the potty tray and grate system.

Litter pan training teaches pups they should only go potty in one area and keep the rest of their pen clean. Our puppies are typically 100% trained to the litter pan by 6 weeks old!

NUTRITION

Learning how to eat is a messy business! Our babies are introduced to a mashed puppy food mixture called gruel at about 3.5 weeks old.

This consists of puppy formula, ground puppy kibble, and pumpkin puree to help their bellies transition to solids.

Puppies will be eating regular puppy kibble and drinking water on their own, by the time they go to their homes. Our puppies eat Wholesomes Puppy Kibble.

HEALTH CARE

Our puppies receive Neopar, Bordetella, and DHHP vaccinations while they are with us. All vaccines are purchased from Revival Animal Health. Vaccines are shipped and stored appropriately in temperature controlled environments.

All pups are microchipped and come with free lifetime registration, as well as appropriate deworming. Our puppies all receive a clean bill of health from our veterinarian at Heartwood Animal Hospital in Youngsville, NC at around 7 weeks old.

OUTDOOR PLAY TIME

We have recently added an outdoor area for our puppies. This adds an additional aspect of enrichment to our program.

Weather permitting, our puppies will begin going outside around six to seven weeks old. This also gives the pups a chance to socialize with our adult dogs.
